What is Montrésor?
Montrésor is a private catalog for a luxury collection — bags, jewelry, watches, and whatever else is worth keeping a record of. You add items with photos, purchase details, and provenance notes, and the app keeps them organized. It runs entirely on your iPhone: there is no account to create, no sign-up, and no Montrésor server. Your collection lives only on your personal device and nowhere else.
Why does the app ask me to set a PIN the first time I open it?
The PIN is not a login — it is the key to your data. Montrésor stores your collection in an encrypted database, and your 6-digit PIN unlocks the encryption key that protects it. That is why the app cannot be opened without it and why there is no password-reset link: the PIN never leaves your iPhone, and we never receive it.
What if I forget my PIN?
When you set your PIN, Montrésor generates a recovery key and shows it to you once, with the option to save it as a PDF. It is not shown again, and we cannot recover it for you — keep it somewhere safe, such as a password manager or alongside your other important documents.
If you forget your PIN, tap "Forgot PIN?" on the unlock screen and choose "Use recovery key" to set a new one. If you have lost both the PIN and the recovery key, the only remaining option is to reset the app, which permanently erases the collection on that device. We hold no copy that could bring it back.
Where is my data stored?
In an encrypted database and private file storage inside the app on your iPhone. The database is encrypted with AES-256, and the encryption key is held in the device Keychain, protected by your PIN. Nothing is stored on our end. Our Privacy Policy describes this in full.
Can you see my private collection?
No. We run no servers that hold user data, the app contains no analytics or tracking, and we have no way to read your database. That is deliberate, and it cuts both ways: we also cannot recover your collection if your iPhone is lost or erased, if you forget both your PIN and your recovery key, or if you delete the app. Keeping a backup is up to you — see below.
How do I back up my collection or move it to a new device?
Montrésor does not back itself up, so export your collection before you switch phones.
On your current iPhone, open application More → scroll to Data → Export Data. The app packages your items, photos, and records into a single archive file and hands it to the device share sheet, so you can save it to Files, share it, or send it to storage you control. Keep it somewhere you would be comfortable keeping a written inventory of your valuables.
On the new device, install Montrésor and set it up, then open More → scroll to Data → Import Data and choose the archive. You will be asked for your recovery key to unlock it, so have it ready. Importing an archive back onto the same device that created it asks for that device's PIN instead.
Can I unlock the app with Face ID?
Yes. Open More → scroll to Security and turn on Face ID / Touch ID. Recognition is performed entirely by your device; the app only receives a yes-or-no answer and never sees, stores, or transmits biometric data. Your PIN continues to work as the fallback.
What do I need to run Montrésor?
An iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later. Montrésor is built for iPhone — it is not designed for iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. No account and no internet connection are required; the app works fully offline.
How do I get in touch?
Write to ppa.rosertnom@olleh.
We read every message and aim to reply within 2 business days. If you are reporting a problem, it helps to include your device model, your system version, and what you were doing when it happened. Never include your PIN or your recovery key in an email — we will never ask for those either.
